The company questioned no less than 1,500 residents of fifteen of the largest cities in France, living there for at least a year, between October 26 and November 1, asking them if they had witnessed “rude behavior in their city.”

Paris in fourth position

By analyzing the data provided to it, Preply finally established that Lyon was the most impolite city in France, with an “impoliteness rating” of 9.41 out of 10. It is closely followed by Marseille (9.26 ) and Nice (9.08). Paris is behind, in fourth position, with a score of 9 all round. Lille is in fifth position, with a score of 8.25. Among the most frequently observed rude behaviors in France are being absorbed in one’s phone in public, not picking up dog droppings, being noisy in public and not saying “thank you” to the driver when exiting public transport. Another ranking carried out by Preply, the least generous cities in France. Thus, Rennes ranks in first position, with 53.5% of its inhabitants who “normally leave no tips”.
