Paris 2024: French politicians trapped by a video calling for a boycott
Several deputies shared the video of a foreign media which called for a boycott of the Games. At the origin of these images, a rather dubious site.
A call for a boycott with questionable origins. The deputy Europe Ecology-The Greens Julien Bayou or the Insoumis Aymeric Caron shared a violent video on Twitter, now called “X”, calling for a boycott of the Paris Olympics. This mixed images promoting the event with others of police violence and riots, aimed at questioning respect for human rights in France. The two elected officials, however, deleted their tweet in the face of the dubious source who broadcast the video, reports Le Parisien.
“This is now the image of France in the world. We can be outraged. Or take into account the alert”, reacted Julien Bayou in front of these images which show in particular the death of Nahel, killed by a police officer. “Despite the attempts to hide misery with the #JO2024 showcase, the world is not fooled,” wrote Aymeric Caron.
An unknown media author of the video
At the origin of these images, the account “New York Insider”. A certified American account, thanks to the paid blue dot, which suggests a real classic media. On its site, the New York Insider publishes articles of all kinds, which are however never signed. These are actually copies of articles from other media such as the New York Times or CBS News. Le Parisien reveals that the “PR to Sky” site even offers to publish press releases, an interview or an article on NewYorkInsider.net for the sum of 300 dollars.
