Protest Erupts in India Against Saudi Crown Prince MBS Over Yemen Crisis

As Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud arrived in India to attend the G20 Summit hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, protesters gathered in New Delhi to voice their vehement opposition to his presence. The demonstrators, holding placards and chanting slogans, demanded justice for the thousands of innocent Yemeni children, women, and men who have lost their lives due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

The protest, which took place near the venue of the G20 Summit at Bharat Mandapam, centered on condemning what the protesters consider inhumane policies and war crimes committed by Crown Prince MBS in Yemen. Placards bearing messages such as “War Criminal MBS is not Welcome,” “MBS, Killer out now,” and “Arrest MBS For Yemen Crimes” were prominently displayed, reflecting the outrage of the demonstrators.

Among the protesters, voices rang out in unison as they accused Crown Prince MBS of being responsible for the devastating loss of life in Yemen. “We cannot stay silent while MBS is welcomed on our soil while innocent Yemenis suffer,” said Sarah Ahmed, a student participating in the protest. “He has blood on his hands, and the world must hold him accountable for the atrocities in Yemen.”

Another protester, Rajesh Singh, expressed his concern for the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. “The images and stories coming out of Yemen are heart-wrenching. It’s time the international community takes a stand against those responsible,” Singh remarked.

The war in Yemen has been ongoing since 2015, with the Saudi-led coalition conducting airstrikes and imposing a naval blockade against Yemen. According to the United Nations, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, with millions experiencing food insecurity and at risk of famine. The volatile security situation has made it challenging to provide aid to those in need.

While the G20 Summit is set to address global issues, including economic cooperation and climate change, protesters in India are determined to ensure that the plight of Yemen does not go unnoticed on the international stage. Their voices demand accountability for the lives lost and suffering caused by the ongoing conflict.
